Thrifty finds

For a quick $3 thrifting fix, I got some more retro patterns and a heavy duty toastmaster iron for my sewing room. It will be so nice for pressing seams. I promised myself I would make myself a dress this year, and I think I can use one of these patterns. So excited!

New Traditions- Snowglobes

Materials: Glycerine, glitter, jar, E6000 glue, figurines and distilled water.

Glue your figurines down on your jar lid with the E6000 and let sit over night.  I used a plastic bottle cap and and painted it silver and glued that down first before I put my bunny on it to raise it up so you could see it better.  Put glitter in and fill with distilled water up to the top, pour a cap full of glycerin in and screw on top. Another tip: Make sure you make sure you glass jar will fit over what your figurines before you glue them down.  Then shake away and wait for the real snow to fall.  None in Missouri yet for us.

Wood burned Chevron Bracelet

Mark you pattern in pencil

Fill in every other space with even strokes with your wood burning tool.

I added thin strips to the last couple for an an accent

This was my first wood burning project. I really enjoyed it. I loved the smell of burning wood.  Although I would recommend  wearing eye protection from the smoke.  I got these wooden bracelets from Michael's for 25 cents a piece and I love these small ones because I have small wrists and most bracelets just fall off. I can't wait to do more. Try it out yourself.

Twisted Leather Braclet

I got this from Martha Stewart's show last week. I love the wrapped effect. We made it from the softest leather and it is so comfortable. I made mine very basic so I can wear it with lots of different outfits. It's so boho chic. I love it. Check out the tutorial here http://www.marthastewart.com/node/872139

A Hunters Widow Weekend

Crestwood Food Truck  Smorgasboard

Sarah's Cupcakes

Log cabin dolls house at the mall shop.

Since my man was off in the wilderness for the weekend. I took the opportunity to spend some quality time with my sister. I am trying to play catch up on my blog since I've stared homeschooling my oldest daughter mid school year, I've been overwhelmed trying to get a routine going to all of us but we are settling in just fine now.  We had a fun weekend of crafting. I have some fun projects I will be showing you. We made yummy pasta carbonara, and worked on our projects. In the morning we watching Breakfast at Tiffany's while we ate a big breakfast my sister prepared for us. It's so much fun getting together like this. It doesn't happen enough.

This years Kimmswick Apple Butter Festival

This years apple butter festival was so fun. I went with my sister and nephew Skyler.  We got all your fall favorites, kettle corn, funnel cakes, pies from the Blue Owl.  They are notorious for their baked good. Skyler was so funny with the little oriental top craftsman. He was to nice and he showed him how to be a professional top spinner. Lot's of fall fun that day.

A Beautiful Day at the Downtown Farmers Market

Our walk thru the city

Grabbing breakfast burritos before our shopping trip

Natures Beauty

Who knew Brussel Sprouts were so pretty.

Orange Cauliflower?

This vendor was so proud of his mushrooms

I was in heaven that day. It was awe inspiring to see all the food craftsmanship that surrounded.  The produce was pristine.  The air was filled with freshly baked bread and spices and the weather was fabulous. Some of the best cheese I've ever had in my life. We can't wait to go back in the spring.

Visiting the Madison Capitol

What a beautiful building. It was so ornate. Marble floors and gilding everywhere. The girls didn't want to bother with the tour so we explored on our own and wound up mistakenly in front of the mayors office. I have to say his male secretary was very cordial.  It was a nice way to escape the blistery weather outside.
